Crusader Kings 2 is a "story creator". -

This is essentially how I was thinking about it. Cutscenes might only ever be the dialogue options, and the story created is how you get to the end goal. Whether you fight against this NPC, or side with that NPC; a faction simulator but on a mini scale so that you still traverse an environment in 3rd person, and you still have certain goals, but they are not linear in the "go here, go there, do this, do that" type of goal. There would still be an end goal that you are heading towards, but being given a myriad of options how to get there. I think the important thing is to have NPCs with their own specific goals that could force your hand depending on what paths you took, so it becomes more about building a relationship, like in CK2, and taking chances because as a player you are never really sure what the NPCs are planning.Warstubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12462907599044043765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3493946997489326661.post-24416601382967558402013-04-11T03:24:55.728-04:002013-04-11T03:24:55.728-04:00That is when realism become limitation I supposse....That is when realism become limitation I supposse. Today's game is all about which graphic could show the most detailed beard or which game cutscene that could give a preach sermon about how bad you're doing really is.

Well, sarcasm aside, nothing is better tool than our own imagination, isn't?Shengarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15920714579095955816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3493946997489326661.post-5256682917429037542013-04-10T16:28:33.757-04:002013-04-10T16:28:33.757-04:00Great write up. Since your last...Great write up. Much appreciated.

Since your last write-up on Crusader Kings 2, I've really been trying to imagine how something similar could work in a 3rd person perspective. I've read and heard about the dialogue system in Alpha Protocol, which I haven't played yet, and wondered if that could at all be something along the same lines.

I imagine that scope would play a large part, for example, in a large open world like Skyrim, the amount of programming required for divergent character arcs would be nightmarish; however, I can imagine it being more feasible within a single city scenario. But, that you would need to limit the amount of NPCs with divergent character arcs as well.Warstubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12462907599044043765noreply@blogger.com
